A friend of my own works in the real-estate business, at the moment it's most likely not the to be in now.
Every time they list a house, they get the chance to share the listing with all of their fellow co- workers, because if they get a sole listing, (only that firm can sell the house), the sales agent earn a little extra commission.
A bit like selling litigant to a fellow advertising sales agent and getting a share of the ad schedule as it pertains in, (wouldn't that be nice).
As part of this business strategy they execute a bus trip every Mon morning, and visit all the new listings from the previous week, the sales agent who has that exclusive listing presents to his or her team members the benefits and features of that house.
The team then have a look around, get a bus tour feel for the house, think about some clients that they know that might be interested, or they make a note so if a lead comes in that week they might just show that client the home. They then hop on the bus, and head off to another location home, where it starts from the start.

Have you thought to when the very next time you are lining up a sales meeting hire a bus/minivan and execute a tour of the town, take an advertising writer with you, and pick an area of your city that you have not experienced for a while, park the bus, emerge and do some sniffing around, set a target to go in and talk to a couple of clients, ask them a few pre-determined questions about their business, if you have taken a copy writer with you ask the writer to take a brief from the client and you are not selected to do a free ad for them to restore in a week to see if they like it, and, they may want to buy it, if you have a proposal tagged to it.
See if there are any shops with contractors in it, or building going on in your neighborhood, try to get a feel for the proceedings in your community, there is always changeover in a town, shops open, shops close, rent signs increase, then down. How many times have you gone past a for rent sign and the next week, it's gone and newspaper is up in the store, or brown paper, or even a shop.
